Before I married, I never really experienced independence. I went from sharing an apartment with my friends for a short while to moving in with a boyfriend, to getting married and having kids. With my husband being self-employed, I considered it a privilege to be home with my children and at the same time, I longed to do meaningful work. At various times while my children were growing, I had a nursery school & daycare in my home, taught preschool at the public school, owned a gymnastics club, and became a personal trainer for 2 years. Then one day, my kids were grown and I realized how unfulfilled I was, not to mention facing a future with literally NO retirement plan, no savings, and a mountain of debt. Something had to change.
I got a State job, thinking that here was the answer to all my insecurities; a retirement plan!
Then my husband passed away.
I was independent, all right... I had inherited the full burden of approximately $500k debt that we had amassed with little hope of recovering. But after 4 years, a bankruptcy, a compromise with the IRS, and a wonderful new relationship, I finally felt free.
"Free" except for the fact that now I was trading my time for money and the State owned my time. So much for independence.
Then one day, I stumbled on a YouTube video that spoke of the very lifestyle I had been craving! BAM!! I knew The SFM was just what I was ready for!
Two years after that, I quit that State job to focus full time on my online business. I've definitely got some more growing to do but in the meantime, I've got a new lease on life and the possibilities are mind-boggling.
Nowadays, I'm on a mission to encourage those who don't think they have any options, those who don't think they "have what it takes" to succeed, those who think they're running out of time to create their dream life. I'm here to tell you, you DO have options, you DO have everything it takes to succeed, you DO have time.. if not now, then WHEN? The tools, mentorship, and systems are available to you.
Go ahead, DREAM MORE. Then make a decision to LEARN MORE. Before long, you'll realize you can DO MORE. And in the process you will BECOME MORE.
